I have a great dislike of CoT I believe they are either two faced, or the operation & policies of CoT are in the hands of countries that do not represent th spirit of the alliance. I don't know what Ireland should do, but personally I will not fight in any war they direct
yup, Cot seems like logical step in begining, when Bulgaria created alliance, back then that was great alliance but now when they looking after only big countries and fight them, there is no a real spirit, and+ Chile dislike us , I don't like been in alliance when somebody dislike us, there is no point in that
Our old allies in CoT should take priority however joining the alliance seems kind of like a waste as we'd only be used for the benefit of larger nations.

The Phoenicians have always had a very serious distaste for the superalliance paradigm, and we have always wished to see the two major alliances, the ones that seem to make the world go round, burn and die.
I abhor the idea of eIreland joining either CoT or TWO.
This country's problem is pretty simple: THE FREAKING UK. Ireland has always had the US as a natural ally and the UK as an obvious enemy. Signing up with CoT just to get a little help against the Brits doesn't really solve the basic problem this country has concerning them, which is, we made deals just to break them later, and we talk a lot of trash without being able to back it up. These things aren't magically solved by joining CoT. These things are solved when you have semi-serious national leadership that deals with the UK in and of themselves.
While no small country has the ability to be naive in a game where neighbors will run you over for the same reason a dog will lick his own arse--BECAUSE HE CAN--that country can work in an intelligent manner, make friends wisely, watch our words, and get better organized. Signing up with CoT only puts a target on our back for every TWO country to take a shot at. The bigger countries in CoT use the alliance to further THEIR agendas and will assist Ireland only when it is convenient for them.
Realizing how this world works, what I just said will not stop Ireland from joining CoT, because this country simply does not have the mettle to try something other than the very lazy method of signing up with a major alliance and letting them fight our battles for it. It's incredible typical.

Events have made this thread obsolete I consider. However it comes down to approach - countries join an alliance expecting others will "protect" them. Alliances tend to use the members that make them up - or more accurately those that control the alliances do, It just seems that eRep is made for shenanigans & back room deals. Its an role playing stage for those that want to be movers & shakers.

It's probably inevitable. SHOULD we? I would hope not. WILL we? Most likely. If nothing else, we're definitely in their circle of influence. We're CoT by default.

It is fairly obvious that the world sees us as proCoT and now that US is wiped there are difficult times ahead for Ireland with the potential invasion from Spain. If we do choose to join CoT then we risking an invasion from Spain.

I think definitely just for staying un-wiped we shouldn't join CoT, they are generally getting beaten across the board so I think remaining neutral is the best option.
Realistically, short of joining TWO or ACT, the world (mainly TWO countries) will see us as being either pro-CoT or allied with them, so I say why not join them. We already have MPPs with the United States and Bulgaria, and close friendships with other pro-CoT nations.
As stated before, I think eIreland should reaffirm its ties with close allies through perhaps joining CoT. However, I think that helping them unofficially is acceptable as well.Right now, the issue is that Spain can quite easily invade us if we choose to join CoT with one intention being to reclaim Ireland or help ourselves in some manner. I personally feel we are in a sticky situation but I am not that knowledgeable on the whole world affairs quite yet.
